We take great pride in our Pilgrim geese!

Each gosling is hatched in our in-home incubators, handled immediately at hatching, and kept in our house under poultry brooder plates for the first few days of life.

Goslings from our farm have made their way all over Minnesota, mostly to small family farms where they are used for flock protectors, grass trimmers, egg layers, and roasters.

We have also had 4-H children purchase and raise goslings—and several have won grand prize ribbons at the county fair level!

We are happy to give great deals to 4-H families who will be using our birds for exhibition. We always love updates as the geese grow!

Pilgrims are known for being docile, relatively quiet, good foragers, extremely winter hardy, and easy-keeping birds. Our geese free-range all year round, with the exception of two months in the spring when we contain them so that we can easily retrieve and incubate their eggs. Our geese interact with our chickens, turkeys, and ducks, and they do extremely well with all of these species.

In our experience, Pilgrims do not make great parents. They do not go broody very often, and when they do, we have observed that they frequently abandon their incubated eggs before hatching. Because of this, we have learned over the years that it’s better for us to incubate the eggs ourselves.

We have found our Pilgrim geese to be prolific layers. This year (2025), we have 12 female geese and 6 ganders. Between March and the end of May, we collected over 380 eggs. This averages to more than 30 eggs per goose for the season. Sometimes they will lay a few eggs in a second laying season at the end of June and into July as well!

The fertility rate has been exceptionally high as well. We have normally kept a ration of 2-3 geese per gander, and their fertility rate is approximately 90%. Our hatching rate has averaged 60-70%, but this year our hatching rate approached closer to 80% (with the exception of our earliest set eggs which were subject to a massive incubator malfunction, causing a 75% loss of all our growing embryos).

Our goslings have been incredibly robust, with a less-than 10% mortality rate in the first two days, and less than 2% mortality rate after three days old.

One of our favorite features of Pilgrims is their auto-sexing trait. This makes it so incredibly easy to attain the proper ratios of geese to gander from day one—a very convenient feature of the breed!

We could say so much more about our beautiful and hardy geese. We could not be happier with them as an addition to our little hobby farm, and we love sharing the joy of owning Pilgrims with all who purchase birds from us.

Our goslings are sold as individuals, pairs, and trios.

We give discounts for group purchases as well as for 4-H participants!
